How we met
It all began 17 years ago on the very first day of Year 7, when we met and instantly knew that our friendship was something truly special. Who could forget our brief “relationship” during that week in Year 7? Throughout school, we were always drawn to each other, especially during the tough days when life felt overwhelming.
We can’t even count the number of times we got into trouble together—what else do you expect when you spend five years sitting next to each other in lessons? While there were moments when we drifted apart, everything changed after that unforgettable drunken kiss in a bathroom at a house party, how romantic! That was the true beginning of our love story.
People often ask us how we manage to work and live together, and the answer is simple: when you’re with your best friend, time truly flies. Despite facing our share of ups and downs as every couple does, we never loose sight of one thing: it all started with us.
The Proposal
Our engagement took place in Alethea’s favourite spot, a place that already held so much meaning for us. Picture this: no Mickey-shaped waffle in sight at Breakfast because I couldn’t stomach it and just half a bagel we had to share while bickering in the security queue over who was responsible for the bag—little did she know, the ring was hiding inside!
After that, Alethea insisted on getting a coffee before I could finally get down on one knee in front of the Castle, trying to avoid all of the crowds. I know what you’re thinking: “Oh, what a romantic day they must have had afterwards, going for dinner and enjoying newly engaged life!” But you are so wrong… we then we headed to Walmart as typical tourists, took a nap for a couple of hours, and went for a late-night walk at 10 PM without getting dinner before Alethea beat me at Air hockey (her hidden talent!) in the arcade. I guess you could say jet lag played a part in all the romance! Regardless, the day could not have been more perfect if we had tried.
